Monica was stting on a low wooden stool near the road-side, sipping tea that was cloudly with milk and sugar, willing it to turn into a chocolate malt.
‘Welcome to Nowhere,’ she told no one in particular.
No one in particular cared. Except for two men across the road,slouched in the back seat of a taxi. Both had their binoculars trained on her.
‘This time it’s really over, Chris,’ muttered Monica, loud enough now to be overheard by the tea vendor a few yards away. He paid no attention, but the two men in the taxi nodded to each other and readjusted their binoculars……….
