When Jessie is offered the post of director of women’s studies at Burford college, she does not realise that this will be prelude to a murder.

Fresh from writing her dissertation on feminist communtities in academia, Jessie is ecstatic at the possibility of living and working in a supportive women centered environment.

What she finds instead is a fraternity-dominated atmosphere where pornographic flyers and graffiti are considered harmless pranks, and where the lesbian faculty is less than supportive.

When professor Joyce Barnette (nicknamed ‘the lesbian vampire’) is found dead is a staged accident a collegue hints that she knows who did it, and sets up a secret meeting with Jessie.

But before Jessie arrives the woman also suffers a deadly ‘accident’. When the offical investigation proves friutless, Jessie decides to do a little sleuthing on her own. But the soution is much closer to home than Jessie realises – and she has unwittingly triggered to pitiless rage that will compel the murderer to kill again…
