Vital Ties by Karen Kringle

Vital Ties

Karen Kringle

Vital Ties is an all-inclusive chronicle of farm life and the unexpected connections between neighbors. Lee and Clare are two independent women who both began working farms at a time when independence was suspect. The novel traces their evolving relationship with each other and all the people touched by their lives. Most notable among the supporting cast of indelible characters are Marsh, the estranged brother who comes home to die of AIDS; Les and Wade, the local gay couple who run the restaurant in town; and Frances, the fundamentalist preacher’s wife whose life begins when her husband dies. Clare and Lee learn about love and acceptance while learning about themselves during three decades of change in rural Wisconsin.
