Colleen McCrady, an aspiring writer, is on the verge of having her first novel accepted for publication. Elizabeth Albright, owner and managing editor of Standing in Sappho’s Shadow Publishing-Triple S, as it’s known in the lesbian publishing industry-gives Colleen a helping hand, and in the process, the two discover that a love for lesbian literature isn’t the only thing they have in common.

Despite their romantic chemistry, Colleen and Elizabeth are at odds over other aspects of their relationship. Try as she might, Elizabeth can’t get Colleen to reveal many details of her childhood and family life. Colleen is likewise stymied in her attempts to get Elizabeth to bring their relationship out into the open.
