From Library Journal

Bowers begins her second Meg Lacey mystery ( Ladies’ Night , Seal Pr.-Feminist, 1988) with quiet efficiency and an apparently easy case. A client begs Lacey to look for her mentally unstable sister, who has disappeared with her small son. Shortly after locating the woman, however, Meg learns that someone has killed her. In order to ferret out the murderer, she delves into the backgrounds of the client, the dead woman’s husband, etc. Deceptively simple in plot and style, yet fraught with growing suspense, this concisely written tale leads the reader on a jaunt through Vancouver.
