Femme Noir
Clara Nipper
—
Dames, booze and murder is the oldest story in the book; but this time, it happens too fast to Nora Delaney, who is a notorious, womanizing college basketball coach.
After her ex Michelle is found murdered, Nora chases the scent all the way cross-country from Los Angeles to Tulsa, Michelle’s hometown, to get some answers, only to be waylaid by a gorgeous, gin-swilling skirt who has information as well as an appetite for women like Nora.
Nora, tough on her team and smooth with the ladies, is used to having everything her way. After their ugly breakup, Michelle being murdered just wasn’t in Nora’s game plan. Deciding to fly to Oklahoma to uncover some right angles in this nasty business, she expects all the answers to reveal themselves instantly just because she demands it. Instead, Nora finds secrets and phony leads, and that woman, Max Abbott, who has only three expressions: just finished having sex, having sex, and about to have sex. Nora’s laser-like focus is disrupted by her uncontrollable and vivid sexual fantasies about Max.
In Femme Noir, Nora has two primary struggles-to get information about Michelle’s murder, and how to bed Max. She achieves the first goal from the least likely source at the most unexpected time and strangest place. Nora never succeeds in seducing Max altogether. She comes close several times and only manages to deepen her own lust. However, even with the promise of a yielding Max, Nora leaves town anyway.
Femme Noir is full of tough broads and big babes who know their ways around drinks and trash talking butches.
Nora, as an amateur investigator, is more concerned with where her next cigarette and piece of ass is going to come from more than who murdered Michelle, who Nora ends in believing deserved it. That Nora finds out who did it is a matter of pure chance and timing and once she knows, Nora leaves town right away, haunted by Max, who is, as Nora says, the most powerful cunt because it is the one not taken.
