Jackie Frackman is a consultant for a human resources firm based in Washington, D.C. Her job keeps her on the road much of the time delivering seminars, but she’s grateful for the diversion. Her mother’s death a few years earlier threw her family life into chaos. Her distress was further compounded when the only woman she’d ever loved backed out on their relationship. If it weren’t for her job, Jackie would have little with which to fill her days.
Beth Novatny, rising managerial star in an office supply company in Atlanta, Georgia, is drowning in her deeply unsatisfying relationship with Sharon Chisholm.
