Returning to her hometown as an adult, Rivi Shenhar finds the diaries she addressed to Anne Frank while growing up in Israel in the 1970s. Reading them takes her back to the isolated girl she was, living with a distant mother, and to the love affair with her young literature teacher that changed her life: a turbulent, forbidden and erotically charged relationship between two women that lasted far longer than either expected. The novel traces Rivi’s transformation from awkward child to confident woman and writer.
