Modeled on Gertrude Stein's The Autobiography of Alice B. Toklas, filmmaker Lana Lin tells the life of her partner, the artist H. Lan Thao Lam, in Lam's voice. It begins with the couple's first meeting in New York City, goes back to Lam's adolescence in Vancouver after fleeing Vietnam, and follows their shared creative life and their partnership through Lin's treatment for breast cancer.
