A Love Affair by Gertrude Vanderbilt Whitney

A Love Affair

Gertrude Vanderbilt Whitney

Gertrude Vanderbilt Whitney was not only a sculptor; she was a patron of the arts who founded the Whitney Museum in New York. She is also remembered for her part in the most infamous custody case of the 20th Century, battling her sister-in-law for custody of her niece Gloria Vanderbilt. In fact, she wrote this novel at the end of the custody fight, as part of her attempt to return to normalcy. It concerns a love affair in set in 1930s Paris, and her biographer considered parts of it to be autobiographical. Never released in her lifetime, it was finally published by a minor press in 1984.

Dissatisfied with married life with his invalid wife, Marston Overstreet tries to find love with the beautiful career woman, Sandra Fane
