A Rage of Maidens by Lauren Wright Douglas

Clive Culhaine has hired Caitlin to help his troubled young daughter, Andy. Several years ago Andy was primary witness to a sexual assault on her sister. In the court proceedings that followed, Caitlin, on the prosecuting team, was helpless in the face of the brief prison sentence given to Mal Dennison.

Since then, the tragedy has caused the breakup of Andy’s family. And now Dennison has been released from jail.

Caitlin’s own life has changed. Her long-standing tenants have moved away, she is recovering from an unresolved love affair. And her investigation of Dennison lays bare new dimensions in herself – and unsettling new demarcations in the people around her. In former lover Tonia, in friend Gray Ng, even unscrupulous Francis the Ferret seems altered.

There is one certainty. Caitlin is no longer helpless to deal with Mal Dennison. And she has a weapon even more lethal than the .357 magnum she carries: her own, highly personal, very deadly rage.
