Catherine, Catherine by Ingrid MacDonald

'The masterpiece in this collection is The Catherine Trilogy, based on the true story of an 18th century cross-dressing lesbian in Germany. MacDonald took actual trial documents and historical research and wove from these sparse facts a compelling account of the life and death of a long-ago lesbian. She is a writer both in love with and in command of language.' - Jennifer Catchpole, Kinesis
