Claire of the Moon by Nicole Conn

Claire of the Moon

Nicole Conn

The film ‘Claire of the Moon’ is a fixture of lesbian culture, but Nicole Conn’s book has not fared as well in the community. Straight Claire Jabrowski travels to a month-long women’s writer’s retreat where she shares a cabin with psychiatrist Dr. Noel Benedict. Each woman has to deal with her own demons, expectations and desires before they finally see their love for each other.

Conn admits that the book is corny, and maybe a bit on the sappy side. This is not a book for the L-Word generation of lesbians who came out with an in-your-face attitude, but for lesbians who remember the process of coming out in a different time. If you’re feeling sentimental, you have a bottle of wine, and a night or two alone, then the book can be a decent companion. ~ Sue Molyneaux for LesbianFunWorld.

In addition to writing the novel, Nicole Conn also wrote and directed the film version of Claire of the Moon. She is also the author of Passion’s Shadows, Angel’s Wings, The Wedding Dress and She Walks in Beauty. She lives in Los Angeles with her partner and their daughter.
