Claudine at School
Colette
Claudine is a curious, precocious, and rather spoiled girl growing up in the small town of Montigny. Colette’s first novel is about Claudine’s adventures at school, where she becomes aware of an affair between the hateful headmistress and a young female teacher–a woman on whom Claudine herself has a major crush. Claudine’s mischievous attempts to break up this liaison and generally wreak havoc are both comic and maddening.
