Consecrated Ground by Virginia Black

Joan Matthews, a witch who rejected her family's traditional role as 'binders' to become a frontline combatant, returns to her Oregon hometown following her father's death. She finds the community of Calvert besieged by a powerful vampire lord and discovers that the key to the town's survival is held by Leigh Phan—the woman she once loved and left behind. Leigh is now a shadow of her former self, burdened by a dark secret and the fallout of her own past choices. Despite their history of abandonment and resentment, the two women are forced into an uneasy alliance. As the vampire threat intensifies, Joan must bridge the gap between her war-magic and her family's heritage, while Leigh must confront an evolving destiny to prevent the town's total annihilation.
