Dirty Money by Pele Plante

'Our heroine, CC, is in her mid-fifties and a retired therapist; she lives with her partner, Barb, a teacher. They're both into bird-watching, but CC has the time and the curiosity to keep tabs on a suspicious new neighbour, who seems to prey on rich windows. This is an entire book, with little titbits of knowledge about the care of hurt birds, how a lesbian teacher can fight wrongful termination, a therapist's secrets for dealing with stress, and feeding the homeless.'
