Goodbye Martha is a story about one woman’s sexuality and her evolution from a suburban Martha Stewart like mother and wife, to a woman who, amid a world of self created perfection, realizes that she is a lesbian. In this unique and heartfelt story she documents the many roads she traveled, the emotional angst and tribulations, and even examines the very concept of whether or not she was born that way, all to get to the ultimate point of living as her authentic self. Her experiences – shamefully turbulent, divinely sexy, and sometimes dreamlike – find her unable to control her desires and landing her in the midst of real life affairs and covert adventures all the while insisting on staying in her marriage for the sake of her children. This is an account. It s a story about transformation, freedom, capacity, sexuality, love, and relationships, and it shows the culmination of all of those things pulling together at the same time to reform a person completely.
Editorial Reviews
Review
Is there such a thing as proper erotica? If by proper, you mean well done and well placed in a story that carries its own weight without it, then I say yes! Don t get me wrong, Ella Sandwell s delicious descriptions of her torrentially torrid trysts are all but perfectly done, but the way she weaves them throughout a heartwarming story about her own self discovery is what this review is all about. Her account starts with a random series of early accesses to the gay lifestyle that eventually culminate into her losing her virginity to a woman. For years after that she carries on the most successful, perfect, Martha Stewart like lifestyle – married to a man. After years of raising children and building a successful career, she finally gets a pang she can t ignore. Her everything rages inside and soon she is on a mission to, well, GET LAID. And when I got to that part of the book I couldn t put it down. Overall, I thought it was fantastic, believable, and raw a perfect blend of story and sex. If there was one critique, I would say to Ms. Sandwell that I wholeheartedly disagree with the idea that you think you chose all of that angst and uncontrollable desire. Honey, you were definitely Born That Way! –MJ Hoffelstein
