In This Small Spot by Caren Werlinger

When her beloved grandmother passes away, young artist Colleen inherits a remote cottage on the rugged coast of Ireland, along with a stack of old journals. As Colleen reads through the pages, she uncovers the secret, hidden history of two women—Elizabeth and Martha—who lived in the cottage decades earlier during a time when their love could not openly exist. Moving fluidly between the past and the present, the novel details a deeply moving journey of self-discovery, exploring how the enduring legacy of a historical sapphic romance provides Colleen with the courage to embrace her own identity and find her true place in the world.
