From Publishers Weekly

It’s in Her Kiss, by Elizabeth Dean, features dishy goings-on at a lesbian TV network run by Debbe Lee, a woman who makes Satan look like Mr. Rogers. C.J. Jansen, her former lover and L-TV’s head writer, tries to shelter the supporting cast from a hurricane of abuse, without much success. Debbe finally crosses the line when she grabs all the credit for L-TV’s success; C.J. and the girls concoct an elaborate scheme to get revenge. There’s no shortage of action affairs, arguments, blackmail and a baby (courtesy of Maria, C.J.’s new girlfriend) though several chatty, throwaway scenes slow the pace of this goofy girls’ guilty pleasure.

From Booklist

Dean’s beach novel is an entertaining, fast-paced soap about writers who don’t write soap, but strive to turn out award-winning dramas and thrillers. The nation’s first lesbian television network, L-TV, boasts a crack team of prime-time writers headed by C. J. Jansen, all well-paid, highly-motivated women yearning to make their mark with cutting-edge innovation. Too bad the network is owned and run by C. J.’s ex, Debbe Lee, affectionately known as ‘Dragon Lady,’ a boss who goes beyond a tough, no-nonsense attitude toward her staff, taking pleasure in their discomfort and seeking to humiliate them publicly whenever possible. When she has the audacity to take credit for their work, the group plots an overthrow so risky it could land them all in jail. Add to the complexities the complication of a romance for C. J. with her top writer, Maria Hernandez, who’s not only a subordinate, but pregnant. With crackling dialog from a politically correct mix of characters, Dean’s book is a true page-turner.
