K. C. Bomber by Janet McClellan

Kansas City Police Detective Tru North is having a rotten year. Her lover has left her, her new boss hates her, and her future on the force depends on cracking a case so difficult that even the FBI is stumped. Someone is getting a kick out of sending deadly gifts--beautifully crafted boxes that explode when opened. With clues as difficult to find and piece together as the victim's shattered faces, Tru races against time to find some method in the madness. Ridiculed by her boss and frustrated by false leads, Tru doesn't realize how close she is to discovering the truth. But the bomber knows--and is preparing a special delivery just for her....
