Mae West Is Dead by Adam Mars-Jones

Mae West is Dead represents the best of contemporary lesbian and gay fiction in Britain and the United States. This edition includes a new story by Adam Mars-Jones. 'Adam Mars-Jones . . . has discovered wit, dignity and stylishness . . . Stereotypes, glitzy trash, self-consciousness, voyeurism, self-pity, self-importance and gratuitous physical detail find no place in Mae West is Dead. Nearly all the stories are well-written, witty or wise. They are organized in an often suggestive sequence, there is a good variety of homosexual topic, and an impressive mixture of sensuality and pathos.' Literary Review
