Claire Garoutte studied photography at the State University of Washington and later produced works on street punks, as well as religion in Cuba. But her interests have not been limited to communities and developments in human society. Her new book is not the usual fetish and S&M photography. It is professional photography with a moving authenticity. 'Real people' speak frankly and honestly about themselves, their need for piercing and cutting, and their experiences, no matter whether they are Top, Bottom or Switch.
