New stories, such as ‘Me Investment’ and ‘Looking for the Golden Gate,’ show a slightly different, yet exciting direction for the author. a sense of reality inverted so that absurdity becomes the norm and the reader is carried into a surrealist-like landscape that is frighteningly familiar. With this collection of both new and previously published stories, Wilson invites a comparison reading of her development as an author. The verdict is most positive. While it appears that Wilson is experimenting with her subject range, expanding outside predominantly female/feminist plot structures, she continues to explore the restrictions that shape our destinies.
