Out the Other Side
Contemporary Lesbian Writing
Christian McEwen ; Sue O’Sullivan
In Out the Other Side, a collection of essays, interview, speeches and articles, letters and journal entries, all the contributors identify as lesbian and proudly so! – but the issues covered are by no means exclusive. There is, for example, not a single ‘coming out’ story. Instead the emphasis rests on the ‘other side’ of being out. Once a woman defines herself as lesbian, how does it affect all the other choices in her life? How does a lesbian think about sex, about families and children, about race or class or money or work, about incest or alcoholism, health or disability?
35 writers, half of them British and half of them North American attempt to answer these questions.
