Previously a promising rock guitarist, Lil Ritchie now works as a private investigator in Down East Maine. When she gets a call from James Cooper, a wealthy businessman in her native Virginia, his case seems to be a simple one. His son Jesse has run away from prep school and may be headed up Lil’s way. Lil finds the boy easily enough, but the story he tells is disturbing: Jesse and a school friend witnessed a murder, and Jesse recognized his father’s business partner as one of the murderers. As Lil tries to protect the boys while investigating his story, she finds herself trapped in a dangerous web of violence and murder. With her own life endangered, Lil Ritchie must find the solution in time to save the boys and herself.
