Things No Longer There by Susan Krieger

Ten short stories and one novella-length drama from Susan Krieger's life as she loses her eyesight. She goes birdwatching before sunrise in the New Mexico desert, learns to walk with a white cane, revisits an old love, returns to a summer camp of her youth, and reflects on blindness and sight. The memoir explores how outer landscapes change and sight is lost while inner visions persist, and speaks to readers in disability studies, feminist ethnography and lesbian studies.
