Vixen by Lynnette D’anna

Vixen

Lynnette D’anna

From Publishers Weekly

Lynnette D’anna (fool’s bells, etc.) continues to peer into dark corners of the human psyche in vixen, but her themes have lost most of their power to shock. The title character is plagued by memories of her abusive mother and obsessed with her sadomasochistic lover, Ruby. But she is also competing with Ruby’s brother, Adam, for her affections. After the incestuous couple commits what appears to be a murder-suicide, the kinkfest shifts gears and becomes a mystery, but the impressionistic narrative is so disjointed that it’s hard to tell the difference. The audience for this is going to be very small indeed.

Product Description

Elegant and edgy, this is a tense tango cutting through the jungle of the urban underground. Exploding the myth of deviance while battling the demons of obsession and deception, lust and loneliness, the title character dances between the spaces of her mind and the places on earth where all is not as it appears to be. The sudden death of a junkie on a full-moon weekend and a mysterious murder-suicide leave vixen abandoned, betrayed and searching for her identity. Urged on by the ruminations of a whisky-addled guitar player, she sets out on her quest, accompanied by a chain-smoking private dick and her trusty companion Lizard. Pursued by the all-knowing, all-seeing, yet unseen Judge, their escape is driven to its fated and shocking conclusion. Once again, Lynnette D’anna bridges the boundaries between illusion and reality in her spare, poetic and ironic prose.
