For the days when you walk alone in darkness… it is you who must be the light… ‘Our humanity is our commonality. During the darkest and the brightest moments of our lives, we often seek ways to be known. We ultimately try to release parts of ourselves out into the world. Whether it be a diary, through having children, friends or writing music…for me it’s always been poetry. Most of us live out our days so quietly – so personally – that we feel lost in the Earth’s population of 7 billion other people. I hope that at least some of the people who read my poetry can recognize that they are not alone. Each of us shares common experiences regardless of where we live, our color, race, gender, sexual orientation or religion. The human experience is what connects us. Love, fear, and the desire to be known by someone for all you are, are universal. Our differences are only but a veil. We are each a power and a presence unto ourselves. Claim it…and know it is yours.’
