Because she published only seven poems and a play in her last forty years, scholars believed she had written almost nothing, but at her death her apartment held many drafts of poetry and notes toward her memoirs, printed here for the first time. The poems trace her development into an intellectual poet in the metaphysical tradition, and the memoir notes describe expatriate Paris in the 1920s, her encounters with James Joyce and Gertrude Stein, and her recollections of T. S. Eliot.
