When one member of a diving certification class ‘accidentally’ drowns from carbon monoxide poisoning, police charge diving instructor Jennifer, known as Jay, with negligent homicide. Series heroine Calliope ‘Cal’ Meredith discovers the body and takes on the daunting task of proving her friend innocent. When Cal fails to find clues through her preliminary search, Jay goes to prison. By now in love with Jay, Cal accelerates her efforts, finds deceitful suspects everywhere, gets beaten up, and solves the murder.
