Bertha Bannon is a struggling black lawyer looking after the grandmother who raised her. Life takes an odd twist when a woman seeks legal counsel for a murder not yet committed. Then the intended victim shows up dead in Bertha’s office. Things get stranger by the day: a fire threatens her grandmother’s house, and Bertha has the eerie feeling that someone is watching her.
