Series protagonist Lynn Evans (The Kali Connection, New Victoria, 1994) is spending part of her vacation in Belize at the archaeological dig of friend Sarah Donovan. Several of Sarah’s students help as well, along with the secretive and aloof Ann, who recoils at the sudden appearance of Ed Kelly, a suspiciously greedy alumni sponsor in search of Maya artifacts. Sarah and Lynn track Ann, who disappears, only to find her dead of an apparent snake bite. Police investigate, and Lynn does too, confronting drug agents, hidden identities, and peripatetic hippies. A moderately involving adventure; for most collections.<\/p>\n
