The cases in this book run the whole gamut of human emotions. Freud contended that many neuroses are motivated by sexual inhibitions, often originating in childhood. This is fundamentally true, of course, and a large number of such cases will be found in this book. There are, however, other causes, such as fear, guilt, superstition, insecurity, sadism and masochism, et cetera, which result in curious physical and psychological effects. Such cases will also be presented in these pages. As you read on, you will see that, from the cradle to the grave, the taboos, superstitions, fears, admonitions, guilt feelings, frustrated needs, and unsatisfied desires associated with sex are far more prevalent than any of our other experiences throughout life.<\/div>\n
