Born with powers, they can speak mind-to-mind with each other; communicate with animals, especially their beloved horses; and defend themselves by returning harm to the sender. In spite of being under assault by jealous rulers, they create their own cities and settlements, and shape their own unique culture that speaks to us of possibilities.
