A classic from 1991 but still as fresh and relevant as ever on a wide range of lesbian issues. This anthology brings together much of the photographic work and debates surrounding the representation of lesbian sexuality. The photographic work ranges from portraiture, archival material and family album pictures to gallery work from major exhibitions.<\/p>\n

Subversive and challenging, the book includes poetry, essays and photography from 30 contributors, who include Jill Posener, Jackie Kay, Della Grace and Tee Corinne. This book gives strong and positive voice to all of us who defend the right to be different.<\/p>\n

The many diverse contributors look at concerns of sexual identity across history, ‘pretended family’ albums, lesbian erotica and alternative photographic practises that subvert existing stereotypes. An exciting range of photographic styles from staged and montage work to snapshots and portraiture, are used to undermine the natural status attributed through codes of realism to photography, and through biology to sexuality and sexual practices. Both writers and photographers deal with often taboo issues and themes in thought-provoking ways.<\/p><\/div>\n
