A southern state Training School for Girls is the new, and threatening, background for Miss Michael who is to work with its head, Mrs. Spinks, and teach English. Her delinquent charges include Lucy, the doomed, and Johnny, the vicious pursuer, and the happenings of a Thanksgiving party result in murders and two suicides. Only when the institution is closed does Miss Michael find the clues to the killer and her own future. The quality of the school, the people — and the events — is ominous.<\/p><\/div>\n
