Out Here by Yorick Smaal; Graham Willett

A vital contribution to queer historiography, Out Here compiles original essays from leading Australian historians to uncover the hidden narratives of the country's LGBTQ+ past. Spanning over a century of social change, this scholarly collection examines diverse facets of queer life—from the activism of early homosexual law reform to the cultural impact of lesbian artists and drag kings. By interrogating police records, personal memoirs, and oral histories, the volume provides an essential academic framework for understanding the evolving social, political, and artistic landscapes of Australian lesbian and gay communities.
