Two-Spirit people have been living, loving and creating art since time immemorial, but contemporary queer Native literature gained public notice only in the 1970s. Since Living the Spirit: A Gay American Indian Anthology (1988), no collection had focused on the writing and art of Indigenous Two-Spirit and queer people. This anthology gathers established writers and new voices across fiction, nonfiction, poetry and essay, on memory, history, sexuality, indigeneity, friendship, family, love and loss, reflecting the diversity, strength and resilience of Indigenous GLBTQ2 people in the twenty-first century.
