I Am Your Sister by Rudolph P. Byrd; Johnnetta Betsch Cole; Beverly Guy-Sheftall

Audre Lorde was a celebrated poet and one of the most important radical Black feminists of the twentieth century. Her writings and speeches addressed sexuality, race, gender, class, illness, art, parenting and resistance, and remain a foundation for thinking about power and social justice. This collection of her nonfiction prose written between 1976 and 1990 presents, for the first time in print, a major body of her speeches and essays, together with the complete A Burst of Light, Sister Outsider and The Cancer Journals. It places Lorde within the women’s, gay and lesbian, and African American civil rights movements and in a line of Black feminists from Sojourner Truth to Patricia Hill Collins, and closes with reflections by Alice Walker, Gloria Joseph, Johnnetta Betsch Cole, Beverly Guy-Sheftall and bell hooks.
