A study of writings by and about queer and trans migrants and their allies who challenge US immigration practices and imagine a future without detention, deportation or border controls. Luibhéid argues that they use intimacies, such as kinship beyond the nuclear family and networks of solidarity, to resist the deportation system, and she examines pathways to citizenship, marriage as a route to legal status, traffic stops as a route to deportation, and the detention of queer and trans migrants, drawing on public records about queer and trans deportees.
