Intimacy, Violence and Activism by Yorick Smaal

The seventh installment in the acclaimed Gay and Lesbian Perspectives series, Intimacy, Violence and Activism provides an essential academic exploration of queer history across Australia and New Zealand. This interdisciplinary collection of essays brings forgotten narratives to light, analyzing everything from colonial-era same-sex intimacies to the political battlegrounds of the 20th century. With dedicated chapters examining early 1970s lesbian-feminist theories and the treatment of lesbian narratives during the Australian film renaissance, this volume offers a crucial scholarly framework for understanding the social, political, and cultural forces that shaped modern Australasian queer communities.
